SatireStunt Coordinator Confirms: 'Bourne Colonoscopy' Action Sequences Will Mostly Involve Jason Bourne Carefully Getting In/Out Of Comfy Hospital Recliner
Aging operative's latest mission involves battling Medicare paperwork and remembering why he's wearing a gown.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Pre-production is ramping up for the highly anticipated sixth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise featuring leading man, Matt Damon.
The action-packed sequel, to be named The Bourne Colonoscopy, will include the most grueling action sequences ever filmed in the series's history.
Indeed, stunt coordinator Hoyt Bailey has revealed that the titular protagonist, Jason Bourne, performs a series of breathtaking controlled, deliberate movements, which primarily involve getting in or out of a comfy recliner.
The news comes as fans speculate about how the aging operative will handle the physically demanding espionage that has defined the series.
"Look, Damon's still got it, no doubt," Bailey told reporters, turning around his well-worn baseball cap.
"But 'it' means something different now. We're talking peak performance for a man of his… experience. The script calls for Bourne to navigate a complex, highly secure medical facility, and that means lots of intricate, low-impact choreography."
Bailey detailed one particularly intense scene where Bourne, recovering from general anesthesia, must painstakingly extract himself from a faux-leather recliner in a recovery room while an enemy spy is after him.
"The tension is there... The muscle memory is there," Bailey explained, gesturing with an almost spiritual reverence. "But the flexibility isn't necessarily what it used to be.
"So, we focused a lot on Matt's core strength for a smooth, single-motion rise.
"No sudden jolts. We want it believable, you know? The audience needs to feel every creak before Jason kills the bad guy."
Other "action" sequences reportedly include Bourne grappling with a co-pay, a tense standoff with a receptionist over a billing discrepancy, and a climactic, heart-pounding chase through a hospital corridor, which culminates in Bourne forgetting why he's running in a hospital gown in the first place, and pausing to ask for directions to the cafeteria.
"We really leaned into the gritty, existential dread of the hospital experience," stated Angela Ward, the film's lead producer, via a press release.
"Jason Bourne is still fighting shadowy organizations, indeed, the insurance angle makes it even more relatable to a certain demographic; he's also fighting the inevitable march of time, the indignities of healthcare bureaucracy, and the nagging suspicion that he may have just pooped himself."
A particularly harrowing scene, according to Bailey, involves Bourne attempting to recall the precise sequence of events leading up to his hospital gown situation.
"It’s all about the subtle facial work," Bailey mused. "Damon is truly a master... That slow dawning realization, the slight head tilt, the visible inner monologue of 'Wait, why am I here again?' It's intense.
"Damon was doing method acting, staying up past 9 PM for a week straight."
When asked about the iconic Bourne hand-to-hand combat, Bailey offered a wry smile.
"There's a scene where he fumbles with a plastic apple sauce cup. It's incredibly dynamic. We're considering a slow-motion shot of the foil lid dropping to the ground, sauce side down."
The film’s marketing team has reportedly commissioned a new tagline: "Now he remembers everything... Except where he parked."
