Fauci Declares Congressional Hearing 'Superspreader Event,' Urges Immediate Adjournment In The Name of Public Health

Former NIH advisor cites "uncontained rhetoric" and "aerosolized misinformation" as primary transmission vectors.

WASHINGTON D.C. – In a dramatic turn during a tense Senate hearing regarding the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci abruptly declared the entire proceeding a "superspreader event" and demanded its immediate adjournment, citing grave public health concerns.

Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), argued that the sheer volume of "unsubstantiated claims" and "aerosolized misinformation" being exchanged posed an unprecedented biohazard to all present, and by extension, the American public.

"With all due respect, Senator, we are creating a dangerous environment here," asserted Dr. Fauci, adjusting his glasses and gesturing vaguely at the room.

"The reproductive rate of baseless speculation in this chamber is, quite frankly, alarming. We're seeing viral loads of conjecture reaching critical levels, and it's imperative that we break the chain of transmission immediately."

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), chairing the committee, initially appeared bewildered by Fauci's pronouncement. "Dr. Fauci, are you suggesting this room is literally contaminated? With pathogens?" he pressed, looking around with a quizzical expression.

"No, Senator, not with pathogens in the traditional sense," Fauci clarified, his voice calm but firm. "This room is infected with ideas. Dangerous, uncontrolled ideas. Indeed, the very air is thick with cognitive droplets... My epidemiological models indicate a 90% certainty of widespread cognitive infection if this hearing continues for another hour. We must practice immediate verbal distancing and implement enhanced rhetorical ventilation protocols, which, regretfully, are impossible in this current setting."

Dr. Evelyn Wilmarth, a bioethicist and expert in public discourse epidemiology at Georgetown University, weighed in on Fauci's unexpected pivot. "While highly unorthodox, Dr. Fauci's argument does highlight a growing concern in certain academic circles," Dr. Wilmarth explained. "The concept of 'infodemics' and the rapid, often uncontrollable spread of harmful narratives can have real-world consequences, akin to a public health crisis. However, declaring a Senate hearing a biohazard due to rhetorical density is, shall we say, a novel interpretation of risk assessment."

Fauci went on to suggest that continued questioning on sensitive topics was only fueling a "variant of dissent" that could lead to "societal breakdown akin to cytokine storms, but for the national psyche."

He then recommended a minimum 14-day isolation period for all committee members and suggested that any future inquiries be conducted via a series of highly filtered, pre-approved statements delivered from separate, hermetically sealed audio booths directly to his legal team.

The committee ultimately proceeded with the hearing, though several Democratic senators were observed subtly pulling their masks up over their noses, even though most had gone mask-less for the duration.

One aide was seen spraying down a colleague's laptop with hand sanitizer after they briefly leaned in to whisper a question.

Outside the Capitol, Dr. Fauci reiterated his concerns, stating that "The true origin of this pandemic, if we define 'this pandemic' as the increased, generalized anxiety and distrust currently gripping the nation, clearly began right there, in that room, this very afternoon."

He then suggested that immediate and voluntary self-censorship was the surest way to achieve herd immunity from such controversial narratives as these.
