SatireTrump Clarifies $5,000 Midterm Dividend May Be Distributed Exclusively in Melania Coin
Administration insists crypto payout bypasses unconstitutional Treasury outlays while offering voters unlimited upward volatility.
WASHINGTON — Privately acknowledging the difficulties and constitutional hurdles surrounding his pledge to deliver a $5,000 cash dividend to voters if Republicans maintain control of Congress, President Donald J. Trump clarified Thursday that the historic payout may be settled entirely via newly minted Melania Coin.
The pivot neatly bypasses the estimated $1.3 trillion congressional appropriation required for a cash stimulus, replacing direct Treasury disbursements with a digital meme asset registered on a private offshore ledger.
Dismissing bipartisan critics noting the limitations on Article I spending powers, Trump attorneys argue that because the digital token was created out of thin air, and - according to CoinMarketCap, currently trades at around $0.10 cents - the nationwide airdrop technically would cost American taxpayers nothing.
"It’s actually far superior to cash, which is also printed out of thin air, but weighed down by terrible regulations and paper costs," said Colt Renfro, special assistant to the president for alternative monetary vehicles.
"With Melania Coin, an everyday patriot might receive the equivalent of five thousand nominal dollars on Tuesday morning, and by Wednesday night they could hold forty thousand dollars... Or twenty-six cents.
"Who really knows...? That’s the ingenuity behind this important token."
To receive the token, registered voters would be required to download a proprietary mobile wallet app, complete full AML/KYC verification, confirm their party affiliation via facial recognition, and agree not to liquidate their holdings for 180 consecutive trading days. The Official Melania Coin whitepaper states that each coin is guaranteed to be cryptographically pegged to the "overall elegance and poise" of the First Lady.
Voters expressed confusion over the value mechanics of the dividend.
"I had originally budgeted the five grand for overdue dental work," said Frank Sokolov, an undecided voter from Northampton County, Pennsylvania. "Now I’m trying to figure out if my root canal specialist accepts Melania Coin."
Trump concluded the announcement by assuring supporters that while he expected that dividends will be in the form of Melania Coin, he reserved the right, but not the obligation, to distribute Barron Tokens in their place.
